Identification and Fashion
Growing up all my dogs had collars, but none of them ever had I.D. tags. We kept a generally close eye on our animals, but I can remember letting them run loose now and then, and even once losing my pomeranian for an hour or so…and then have my sister discover that a family in the neighborhood put my dog on a leash and claimed her as theirs. Luckily we got her back without incident, but I learned soon after how important it is for pets to have identification.
These days, pretty much every essential item you get for your dog doubles as a fashion accessory. There are brightly colored, embroidered collars, matching leaches, personalized feeding bowls, festive sweaters, and even “jewelry style” identification tags. I’ll admit, I do like having some cute things for my dog, she has a cute little pink heart-shaped I.D. tag, a leather collar, and a pink leash, but all that really matters is that it is comfortable for your pet and that it serves its intended purpose effectively…nothing wrong with it being pretty at the same time though!
